Abstract

SHIPFLOW, which this paper describes, is a suite of computer programs for calculating the flow, resistance and propulsion characteristics of ships. The CFD (computational fluid dynamics) system is based on a zonal approach that computes potential flow and resistance using the panel method, and viscous flow and corresponding resistance components using boundary layer theory and a Navier-Stokes solver. System results are presented for two ships and a propeller in the open water condition.
